Berlin, October 19th, 2019— HTC today announced the launch of the EXODUS 1s at the Lightning Conference in Berlin. The EXODUS 1s is a lower cost version of the pioneering HTC EXODUS 1, which is a smartphone with a built-in hardware wallet. HTC is selling the first 1s devices at the Lightning Conference using the Lightning payment network.

The EXODUS 1s will provide an opportunity for users who want to dip their toes into the crypto world and harness the powers of blockchain technology at the more accessible price point of €219 EUR/5990 TWD, or the equivalent price in crypto via BTC, ETH, LTC, BNB, BCH.

The EXODUS 1s will start to unlock what it means to have Bitcoin on a mobile phone by bringing banking services to the individual, empowering the user to be their own bank. They can buy, sell, send, receive, trade, lend and borrow all on the device — it is like having a Swiss bank in your pocket.

The EXODUS 1s will launch initially in Europe, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Further territory launches will be announced at a later date. A full list of initial availability is included at the bottom of this release.

In a ground-breaking development, the EXODUS 1s is the first smartphone ever to provide full Bitcoin node capabilities through powerful software tools. The EXODUS 1s is the combination of a smartphone with a hardware wallet and a full Bitcoin node all at an accessible price point.

The full Bitcoin ledger is around 260GB at the moment increasing at 60GB per year. The full Bitcoin ledger can be stored on an SD card (sold separately, 400GB+ SD card required) and allow a user to verify and relay transactions without requiring a centralized third party.

Running a full Bitcoin node is still quite experimental and innovative. The HTC EXODUS team are looking forward to feedback from the community to help improve the experience.
HTC EXODUS believes a full node is the best way to use Bitcoin in a fully private, trustless manner and full nodes are critical to securing the future of Bitcoin.

While it is recommended to be connected to Wifi and plugged in to a power source when running the full node, it can also be used on the go.
