Recording video in 3D Audio or high resolution audio
Choose to record videos, including selfie videos, with
3D Audio or high-resolution audio.
Important: Some things to know about high resolution audio:
- It's only available when the video quality is set to HD (720p) or higher.
- You can't pause when recording video with this type of audio.
- Videos with this type of audio are saved in MKV (Matroska video) file format.
- On the Home screen, tap the camera icon to open the Camera app.
- Switch to Video or Selfie Video mode. See Choosing a capture mode.

Do one of the following:
- In
Video mode, tap
. Then tap
to switch to high-resolution audio or tap
to select 3D Audio.
- In
Selfie Video mode,
3D Audio is selected by default. Tap

to switch to high-resolution audio.
Note: Selectingallows you to record in 3D Audio without applying Sonic Zoom. To record using Sonic Zoom, see Recording video with Sonic Zoom.
- In
Video mode, tap

When you're ready to start recording, tap
. When recording using 3D Audio, make sure not to cover the microphones when holding the phone.
- Change focus to a different subject or area by just tapping it on the Viewfinder screen. You can also change the exposure after tapping by dragging up and down on the screen.

Tap
to pause the recording, and then tap
to resume.

To stop recording, tap
.
Tip: Videos recorded in 3D Audio are marked within Google Photos. Use earphones when playing back the video to enjoy immersive sound.
